Worx WG775 14-Inch 24-Volt Cordless 3-in-1 Lawn Mower Review

When shopping for a lawn mower online, have you noticed that most mowers are geared toward mid- to large-sized lawns? For homeowners with small yards, the only real practical solution used to be manual reel mowers. While reel lawn mowers can be effective for certain applications, consumers were hoping for an alternative. Well, the lawn mower solution for small lawns has arrived: The WORX WG775 Lil’ Mo 14-Inch 24-Volt Cordless 3-in-1 Lawn Mower with Removable Battery.

Reasons to Buy WORX Lil’ Mo Electric Mower

First of all, a little mower like this has to be cordless. By definition, it’s for a small yard. With less room to work with, having to mess around with an extension cord just doesn’t make sense. Folks who buy electric lawn mowers do so because electric mowers require less maintenance (no need to mess with oil or air filters and spark plugs) than a gas-powered mower, they’re quieter (no need for hearing protection), cost less to operate (need I remind you of the rising gas prices?), and they don’t reek of exhaust fumes after mowing. For the environmentally-friendly, an electric mower is a no-brainer. And this WORX electric mower is no different. In fact, the WORX WG775 is so quiet that a customer was actually able to talk on the phone while mowing! And for those of you who like to mow in the early mornings without disturbing the neighbors, you can mow away guilt-free.

Another major reason people like electric mowers is the electric start. No more throwing your shoulder out pulling starter cords of gas mowers. With the WORX Lil’ Mo, you start the mower with the push of a button. Simple. And because it’s a small mower, the WORX WG775 is very light; light enough where you can mow with one hand! And out of the box, the WORX mower assembles quickly and easily; just put on the handle and you’re ready to mow.

How Well Does the WORX Lil’ Mo Perform?

Don’t let the size fool you. One customer reported that the WORX Lil’ Mo easily cuts his lawn consisting of fescue grass, zoysia grass, trumpet vine stalks, weeds, and even pine cones. Another user said this mower had no trouble with his thick St. Augustine grass, with some as high as 12 inches! Overall, the consensus is that the WORX Lil’ Mo cuts and mulches well. And it’s great when you have to maneuver through narrow spaces and tight spots.

WORX WG775 Cordless Lawn Mower Features

The WORX electric lawn mower has mowing heights adjustable from 1.8 to 3.3 inches with a 14-inch cutting width. It also features 3-in-1 cutting for mulching, bagging, or rear discharge as well as push-button starting. The WORX Lil’ Mo also comes with a removable battery that offers the convenience of re-charging the battery anywhere you like. This is a great feature for those who don’t have an electrical outlet out in the shed or don’t have the room to place the mower next to an outlet. You have the ability to charge the battery indoors. It takes about 5-7 hours for a full charge and has a very useful light indicator that lets you know when the battery has been fully-charged. The WORX Lil’ Mo can also cut up to 6,000 square feet on a single charge.

Complaints About the WORX WG775 Cordless Electric Lawn Mower

Well, its most obvious complaint is the size. With a 14″ cutting swath, the WORX WG775 is much smaller than your average lawn mower. The smaller the cutting swath, the less coverage you have with each pass, and the longer it will take you to mow the lawn. Then again, this is made for a small lawn. You wouldn’t want to buy this mower if you have a large yard, unless you just like something small/light and don’t might the extra walking! An alternative is to buy the larger and more powerful WORX WG788 19-Inch 36 Volt Cordless 3-in-1 Lawn Mower With Removable Battery & IntelliCut.

Unlike the many of the mowers out on the market today, the WORX Lil’ Mo does not offer a single-lever height adjustment. While having this feature would’ve been nice, I’m sure it would’ve added to the cost of the mower. Besides, this mower is so light that having to manually adjust the wheel height one at a time seems only a minor inconvenience and a reasonable trade-off. The lack of a single-lever height adjustment would’ve been a major oversight on a larger, heavier lawnmower. But for the Lil’ Mo, it’s an understandable cost-benefit choice made by the manufacturer.

Additionally, because this mower is so light-weight, when the grass catcher attachment gets full it might tip backward. However, if you’re not using the grass bag and just mulches or use the rear discharge, this would not be an issue. There have also been complaints about the lack of customer services from WORX.

The final verdict? The WORX WG775 is a mower that offers all the convenience of a cordless electric lawn mower along with good performance at a very affordable price for homeowners with small-sized yards. No more complaining or excuses about pushing the big, heavy mower. With the WORX Lil’ Mo, customers young or old, large or small can equally take part in this regular ritual we call lawn mowing. And there is no better time than now to go electric, if not for the environmental reasons, then simply for no longer having to deal with the rising gas prices. No more pain at the pumps!
